It has been two years since the launch of the new portable Light-915M2 mercury vapor analyzer, which has been met with great interest and enthusiasm on the market. Due to its drastic changes in looks and competitive pricing, the Light-915M2 has quickly become the most noteworthy successor in the Light analyzer series. This series has been a staple in the mercury monitoring industry for over 25 years, with previous models such as the Light-915 and RA-915 Light likely being familiar to many of you.

What’s stayed the same?
Like previous models, the new unit is based on the Atomic Absorption Spectrometry technology (AAS) with Zeeman background correction. This provides exceptional sensitivity and interference-free measurements without the need for catalysts or carrier gases. By eliminating the pre-concentration step, this technology can precisely quantify mercury in real-time. Additionally, it comes equipped with an integrated test verification cell which ensures that your calibration remains accurate before every round of testing.
Building on top of already successful attributes with a 30+ year legacy, this new model features significant exterior and interior improvements further simplifying user experience while enhancing industrial mercury monitoring capabilities.
What’s improved?
Light-915M2 features a lower detection limit of 0.02 μg/m³ of mercury vapor in air, with a dynamic measurement range of five orders of magnitude. This not only meets but exceeds the industry requirements for mercury vapor analysis (see OSHA mercury vapor exposure limits here).
Light-915M2 with Sampling Tube Full Size
Thanks to its shock-resistant aluminum casing and Santoprene protective legs, the Light-915M2 only weighs 9 pounds and can be used in either vertical or horizontal orientation making it ideal for both indoor and field applications. The built-in datalogger allows for collecting up to 100 hours of measurement data, and the internal battery power lasts for up to 12 hours. No software is needed to download and process the collected data, which can be easily exported as text file onto a USB stick.
